In this new unit of study, students will learn to write chapter books that synthesize a wide variety of information as well as to section their topics into subtopics. They will learn different structures in which to format their writing to best communicate ideas. They are supported in this challenging work because they are writing about topics on which they have firsthand, personal knowledge: dogs, soccer, gymnastics.
In our first unit of Writing Workshop, Writing Gripping True Stories, students begin to look at their daily lives moment by moment.
Students zoom in on a special person, a special place, and/or a special object, and share a special moment with a story tellers voice.
